Why Worship Resources Need to be More Affordable

I often hear people say, “Music and photography are two of the most expensive hobbies.” Well as a musician myself, it’s difficult to see a lie in that statement. Music can be extremely expensive, no matter what instrument you play. And for Churches, it’s a different ball game entirely. And I don’t just mean the instruments in the Worship band—I mean the costs of whole entire sound systems that Churches need to effectively amplify sound. PA Speakers, sound boards, snakes, interfaces, in-ear systems, stands, cables, microphones, replacements and much more can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

According to Nonprofit Source, a study conducted in 2018 shows that tithers make up an average of 10-25% of any congregation in the United States. New York Times reference a study in 2016 showing that Church giving has dropped 50% since 1990. On top of all this, 95% of Churches across North America have congregations under 500 people. How are Churches supposed to invest in their Worship ministry? How are Churches going to invest in musical resources and training for their teams when their budgets are allocated to gear and their giving is low?

These are tough questions to answer, and it depends on many different factors within any Church context. But making Worship music resources more affordable is a great place to start for any Church. And this is extremely important to us at Worship Start.

Our priority is making our resources and training very accessible and easy to use for all Churches. And because Worship Start is the first subscription-based Church Worship resource of its kind, there’s no need for buying any musical resources a la carte, and no need to pay for products separately from different sources.

So if you’re a musician, Worship leader, or on staff as Worship director at your Church, we hope that our resources and training will help you achieve higher levels of excellence in your Sunday services at an affordable price.
